Fishbowl Chara Is Exactly What This Stanley Cup Final Needs
Okay so first off–obviously it sucks that Zdeno Chara took a puck to the chiclets and most likely broke his jaw. It’s just an unfortunate part of the game that nobody wants to see, but it happens.
With that being said…Fishbowl Chara makes everything that has happened so far in these Stanley Cup Playoffs worth it. There are just some things that you think you’ll never have the opportunity of seeing in your lifetime. Fishbowl Chara is one of those things. You figure the man would just retire on the spot before he ever threw a shield on his bucket. But after taking a shot to the chiclets and leaking everywhere, Chara got stitched up, threw on that fishbowl, and heading straight back to the bench to crush that gate for the boys.
Most humans would probably want to go straight to the hospital if they just broke their jaw. Zdeno Chara said fuck a hospital, I gotta make sure that my guys are having some extra clean line changes. Honestly, you can never overvalue the importance of a clean line change. This is the Stanley Cup Final. Every little moment means more when you get to this point of the season. If you’re slow on the door and guys aren’t getting on and off the ice as quick as possible, that little mistake could end up costing you in the back of your own net. So Chara knew that if he couldn’t help the team on the ice with that injury, the least he could do is make sure that the line changes were mint crisp.
And again, that makes this whole thing worth it. I don’t want to see Boston win another championship. I don’t think anybody outside of Boston does. But if the Boston Bruins advancing to the Stanley Cup Final means that we got to see Fishbowl Chara be the best doorman the NHL has ever seen? That’s worth it, in my opinion. Now the only thing I’m worried about is Chara playing in game 5 whilst wearing the fishbowl. Whatever kind of prop bet you can get on the goal total for Fishbowl Chara, I would hammer the over.
